FINAL

Thailand vs Singapore 12:1
Thailand lifted the inaugural Asean
Futsal Championship crown in style as
they whipped Singapore 12-1 in the final at the Malawati Stadium in Shah
Alam today. The Thais, who finished the preliminaries unbeaten, were a
class above all their rivals in this five-team tournament. From the very
start of the tournament, the Thais looked good for the title.
And tonight, they proved that they were equally lethal in the indoor version
of the game. The Thai players were constantly attacking and steadily reeled
in the goals.
Thailand scored their dozen goals tonight through Sompong Phungphook (2nd,
32nd, 34th), Anucha Munjaren (10th, 13th, 33rd), Pattaya Piemkum (14th,
17th, 18th, 40th) and Yutthana Polsak (31st, 39th).
For the record, the Thais have scored a total of 62 goals in just five
matches, including tonight's final.
The Lions, who pipped Malaysia to the final on a better goal average, tried
hard to keep the skillful Thais at bay but found it extremely tough.
Singapore netted their consolation goal through Mohd Razif A. Hamed in the
31st minute.
