Futsal League's Greatest Games

XK San Diego Soccer News isn’t ready to close the books on a commemorative year for San Diego Futsal quite yet. We polled parents, players and coaches to find out what their most memorable moments with Futsal were this year. Make sure to check back next week when we announce how the Futsal community plans to be bigger and better in 09’.

Mario Mrakovic- Coach/Founder
“The best moment certainly was the first-ever San Diego Futsal League being held at Alliant University, May through June.

"For me personally, the best by far moment was when the first league goal ever scored was by my son, Luka, who was 5-years-old at the time. This was my highlight of the Futsal year.”

Scott Montgomery- Jorge Montgomery’s Dad
“My favorite moment from Futsal was during the Futsal League when Jorge had the ball, was covered by a defender and made a 270-degree turn and passed to Eric, who was trailing Jorge. Eric made a perfect shot into back of net. But what I enjoyed most was after the game, Eric's dad came up to Jorge and praised him for the pass and said, 'That is Soccer.'

"My other favorite moment was when Luka (Mrakovic’s son) scored his first goal and [Mrakovic] missed it! LOL.”

Dana Christensen- Player

“Last year during Futsal clinics, Mrakovic would have me play goalie for much older, far more experienced players. It was definitely a challenge, but it felt so wonderful to be playing with some very high-level players, and the fact that they trusted me in goal, trusted me to make the saves just like someone their age. I didn't always make that last-second save, and of course I made some mistakes, but just the fact that I was able to play with these players made me feel honored.”
