Fars News AgencyIran to Play 2 Futsal Friendlies against Brazil TEHRAN (FNA)- World Champions Brazil are scheduled to play two friendlies against Iran's national futsal team in the capital Tehran in March 2009.
"The 2008 World champions Brazil will travel to Tehran to hold two friendlies at Azadi Stadium on March 10th and 11th," President of Iran's Futsal Committee Abbas Torabian said on Friday.
"Following Iran's good performance at the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil, the team has agreed to come to Iran to play two friendlies without any financial demands," he added.
According to the agreement between the two countries' futsal officials, Iran will participate in the Grand Prix Tournament to be held in Brazil in June 2009, Torabian added.
Iran and Brazil last played in the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup, where the Latinos beat Iran 1-0 on the way to the semi-finals.
Iran still had the chance to qualify as a runner up for the semi-finals, but they were eventually knocked out of the World Cup after Italy scored the tying goal in the last 50 seconds in their match to advance to the final four.
