The AFC.com Qazvin plans women’s futsal league 21 December 2008QAZVIN: Football officials from Vision Iran province Qazvin are hoping to soon launch a futsal league exclusively for women.
“We will start a futsal league for women in Qazvin province very soon,” said Touraj Nabizadeh, public relations officer for the Qazvin Football Association.
“We are evaluating the situation of clubs from the all regions of Qazvin province to see if they can participate in this league.
"We are also working closely with the QFA’s women’s committee.”
Nabizadeh said a number of support services must be established to ensure a successful league, including facilities, quality coaches, referees, among others.
He said a referee’s course was conducted by Davoud Sayyah, who is an instructor with the Iran Football Association. Of the 30 referees who passed the course, three were women.
Qazvin has a strong women’s futsal team and they finished second in the Iran national games.
The province is one of four regions that are part of AFC’s Vision Iran development programme.
