Shams renews contract with IFF

Hossein Shams, who led Iran national futsal team to two consecutive AFC Championships, has extended his contract with IFF for four more years.

Iran reached the Futsal World Cup quarterfinals in October under Shams after displaying brilliant performances which resulted in Iran being voted as the most impressive team in the tournament.

Despite his achievements, Iran's Football Federation (IFF) was slow to offer a new contract to Shams, who had also been offered deals to coach UAE and Kuwait's national futsal teams.

Shams will be steering Iran in two friendly games against world champion Brazil in March. Iran's national futsal team will also take part in the Grand Prix Tournament to be held in Brazil in June 2009.
