EKA MCAV emerge men's champs

EKA MCAV, Rebel Pahang and Godlike Junior emerged central zone champions of the 2009 i-Metro-FAM Futsal Carnival at the Sports Planet in Ampang yesterday.

EKA MCAV edged Red Galacticos 1-0 in the final to walk away with RM5,000 in the men's 'Open'.

Galacticos settled for RM3,000.

Rebel Pahang were declared the women's 'Open' champions after Ice Cube were disqualified in the final on technical grounds.

The 'Rebels' pocketed RM3,500.

Godlike Junior beat Ball Busters 2-0 to win the boys' Under-17 category and the RM2,500 winner's cheque. Ball Busters received RM1,500.

A total of 426 teams competed in the competition with the men's 'Open' attracting 263 teams, women's 'Open' 46 and boys' Under-17 a further 117.

The carnival next heads to Perlis for the north zone leg in March.

This will be followed by the east zone (Terengganu), south zone (Johor) before returning to the Klang Valley for the second leg of the central zone.
