Dmitri RogovitskiUEFA Futsal Cup final four contenders MFK Dinamo Moskva have dismissed coach Yuri Rudnev and appointed Brazilian Sérgio Sapo in his place.
Sapo in chargeThe 54-year-old Rudnev had been coach of Russian champions Dinamo since 2003, save for one short break, and he guided the club to four league titles and victory in the UEFA Futsal Cup in 2007. Having only joined the coaching staff after leaving the Japan job at the end of 2008, 50-year-old Sérgio Sapo has been appointed to the Dinamo helm with the side second in the Russian league just two points behind leaders MFK Viz-Sinara Ekaterinburg. He will lead the team in the UEFA Futsal Cup final four in late April in Ekaterinburg, where they will come up against holders Viz, Kairat Almaty and Interviú Madrid.
'Blow'"The board decided they were not satisfied with our results before taking this decision," Rudnev told uefa.com. "This is a blow for me. The players are shocked too. I gave so many years to this team and it is like a family for me. But that's life and you have to be ready for anything. So I am open to offers. Perhaps I will manage to work with the national side."
