Legends Play FutsalThree local legends have taken up Futsal, the brazilian version of 5-a-side, and will take on Middlesbrough Futsal Club in an exhibition game on 1st February at Thornaby Pavilion.
The exhibition match is part of a Charity pre-season tournament and will take place before the final, at 1:30pm. Led by Alastair Brownlee of BBC Tees, former World Speedway Champion, Gary Havelock, and ex-Boro and Ireland international Curtis Fleming the Legends are helping to launch Boro’s season, which kicks off away at Sheffield FC on 8th February.
Hosted by Tees Active at Thornaby Pavilion, the 3-team tournament kicks off at 11.30am with Perth taking on Middlesbrough, before Tranmere Victoria, FA Futsal League Champions, take on the Scots. The Legends then take centre stage playing against Boro Futsal at 1.30pm, before the final of the three-way tournament kicks off at 3pm.
Futsal promotes technique, vision and creativity. It is often attributed to the success of football stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Robinho and local hero Juninho. Middlesbrough Futsal Club could be the long-term answer to create technically gifted English players!
Entry is FREE, though a donation to the amazing Children’s Charity CLIC Sargent is more than welcome on the door. To further help raise valuable funds, there will be a raffle on the day, with top prizes up for grabs including Boro tickets and a signed football courtesy of Middlesbrough Football Club. With entertainment in between matches including skills challenges and dancers, it is a perfect day out for all the family.
So, for a fun filled day, and the chance to see the legends in action, register your interest by calling Damon Shaw, Boro Chairman on 07807 146 319 or emailing info@borofutsal.com. Up to 10 tickets can be reserved by one adult, or up to 30 if you are bringing a school or youth group. Other requests are welcome. Tickets may be available on the day, but no guarantees can be made.
