Five courses were launched yesterday for goalkeepers, referees,
futsal, conditioning and sports medicine, with AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam telling participants that they are at the forefront of Asian football development.
“Development doesn’t start on the field,” Bin Hammam said at Monday’s opening ceremony. “It starts off the field with the preparation of coaches, referees, players and doctors.
“Performances of players are really the result of the work that you are doing behind and beyond the pitch. So, I don’t want you to look at these courses as four or five day events.
“You should go back to your countries and share what you have learned with others.”
This year’s EES is the biggest ever with the courses having started on January 8 and ending on Saturday.
Bin Hammam has always put a major emphasis on the education of people involved in football services in order to make Asian football more professional and effective.
The five courses that started on Monday are: AFC Football Medicine & Doping Seminar, AFC Elite Goalkeeping Instructors Course, AFC Elite Conditioning Instructors Course,
AFC Elite Futsal Coaching Instructors Course and AFC Referee Fitness Instructors Course.
