Some weeks ago were confirmed the 19 brazilian clubs that will take part in the prestigious Liga Futsal 2009, 14th edition of the national competition. As you can easily notice, the next edition of the Liga Futsal "lost" one character (after three edition with 20 teams), as both Ulbra (heavy "departure" as we're talking about the last season finalist!) and Macaè asked the licence in order not to take part in this year tournament. One of their franchises was taken by Praia Clube, club from Uberlândia (Minas Gerais state).

The Liga Futsal 2009 will start in March and last until next October. São Paulo and Santa Catarina are the most represented clubs (four each), with Rio Grande Do Sul (which lost Ulbra and Horizontina, the former John Deere) and Paranà (absolute debut for Copagril/Dalponte, club from Marechal Cândido Rondon town) counting on three representatives. The tournament formula is exactly the same of the previous edition.
