Brazilian hat trick! Dear futsal friends, time has come to announce the third category winner of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2008 - 9th Edition by Futsalplanet.com. Today, as known, we will assign the Best National Team of the World prize and, as probably expected, we won't leave the South American continent after celebrating Cilene and Malwee in the first two days. No doubts on the fact that the World Cup event gave the deciding turning point: parabéns Brazil!


From Libya to Guarulhos, one year of victories
Focused on the World Cup dream, the PC's canarinhos experienced twelve intense months of futsal. The year 2008 began with three friendlies in Libya and ended in the Sao Paulo state, when Paraguay was defeated twice in an international "desafio" wich took place in Guarulhos. Numbers are impressive: 45 matches, 43 wins and two ties (and one of them... ended with the sweetest ever penalties triumph!!)

Titles, titles...
The KL World 5's was not played since 2003, when a Lavoisier's disaster gave Yoni Gonzales and his Argentina the first historical win over the brazilian enemy. But Brazil proved to have learnt the lesson five years later, thrashing all opponents in a magnificent six matches series in which Tiago and mates conceded no goals at all.
History did not change in Fortaleza, where Brazil conquered the fourth Grand Prix event in a row, again vs Argentina in the expected final. Same destiny but different nation (Uruguay) in the final match of the Copa America played in Canelones. Three great titles, but the biggest one was yet to come.

Waiting since 1996
Choco, Danilo, Marcio, Manoel Tobias and others. It was the year 1996 and Brazil conquered the World Championship title in Barcelona, after the ones got in the Netherlands and Hong Kong. At that time they could not even think that the "next one" would have came after 12 years, an endless period. But doesn't matter, this just belong to the past, as since October 19th Brazil is again World Champion and, since today, is the winner of the Best National Team of the World category of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2008 - 9th Edition by Futsalplanet.com!!
