Daily ExpressState's Jaguh Futsal team aiming to make finalThursday, February 12, 2009Kota Kinabalu: The State's Jaguh Futsal team is aiming to make the final of the RTM Futsal Reality National Championship that will kick off in Penang, said head coach, Scott Ollerenshaw.
He said the team comprising of Safar Mohamad, Herman Latif, Rosmadih Wasli, Mohd Faizal Mohd Mukhtar, Mohd Shah Ruzan Mayasin, Eddie Mansur, Mohd Marwanshah Ahmad, Eashyad Allen Hussain, Mohd Faizal Abd Rahman, Mohd Nazrey Mohd Yunus, Mohd Azrie Basalie and Indrastono Sulaiman will leave for Penang this Friday.
Ollerenshaw, who will be assisted by Faisal Ismail said that Safar, Herman and Rosmadih are the three players selected from the previous Jaguh Futsal team, adding that all players are aged under 25.
The State team recently performed admirably under head coach Mohd Assyraf where they won their group and finished fifth in the whole country, he said, adding that it was a big improvement on previous standing at national level.
"The team will approach the RTM Futsal Reality National Championship on a game by game basis and hopefully go all the way to the final. My mentality is-we do not enter the tournament unless we can win it.
"We try to win every game we play and see where that takes us. I am trying to instil into my players the importance of a strong will to win and being mentally stronger than our opponents. I do not believe in making excuses. If we do not go far then we simply were not good enough," he said.
