A brilliant first half display gave Youths control of their clash with Shamrock Rovers and they went on to win 6-4.
Polish ace Arthur Opeldus was the difference between the sides with a hat-trick. Compatriots Wojciech Korzan and Maciej Lewandowski also scored with Des Kelly completing the scoring.
Alex Gutu, Keith Gallagher, Philip McDonagh and Colm Corcoran replied for the Hoops but Rovers could never recover from going in 3-0 down at the break.
Wexford were perhaps even more impressive in their 4-3 thriller against Sporting Fingal.
Fingal had led 1-0 at the break through Mark Langtry and led 3-1 with ten minutes left after a second half double from player-coach Junior.
However a Korzan double and strikes from Lewandowski and Opeldus swung the tie in Wexford’s favour.
Holders St Patrick’s Athletic moved up to second place with a 7-5 win over Bray Wanderers and a 5-3 victory over Shelbourne.
Brazilian Hygo Cezar was the main man for the Saints, banging in four against Bray and also hitting the net against Shels. 16-year-old Cian McDonald caught the eye for Shelbourne with a hat-trick in that tie.
Dundalk lie third thanks to a 5-0 win over Shels after they had earlier lost 6-1 to Sporting Fingal. Goalkeeper Ryan Coulter catching the eye for the Lilywhites with his performances.
In the North West Division, Finn Harps and Derry City are both top of the table on nine points after four games each.
Harps beat Monaghan 4-2 thanks to an Alan Gethins double then lost 5-4 to the Candystripes, despite a Gethins hat-trick in that tie.
In Munster, Cork City and Salthill Devon have secured their places in the quarter-finals after each recorded victories over Limerick FC at the University of Limerick.
