Somerset Adult Futsal League (Male) 2009

Somerset FA is pleased to announce that it will be running its hugely popular County Futsal League at The University of Bath during March, April and May 2009. Futsal continues to grow in the South West of England, particularly with the emergence of the Somerset FA County Futsal League that saw the creation of National League side TeamBath Futsal Club last year. Futsal is a fast and technically demanding sport that will capture the minds of the locals in Somerset, especially as England Partially Sighted Goal Keeper and Football Development Officer of Somerset FA, Brendan Dix will be taking charge of this competition. All matches will take place on Sunday afternoons, usually between the times of 3pm – 5pm. Winners of the League will then be nominated to play in a regional play off competition with the chance of playing in The Finals of the FA Futsal Cup 2009, which is to be held at the prestigious English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

The Somerset FA Adult Futsal League will consist of a maximum of 8 teams, so please can you forward any relevant paperwork and payments to the County Office (marked for the attention of Brendan Dix) ASAP to avoid any disappointment.

The dates and times for the competition are as follows (Teams will be given specific Kick off times!)

Sports Training Village Sunday 29th March (4pm – 6pm)
Sports Training Village Sunday 5th April (3pm – 5pm)
Founders Hall Sunday 12th April (3pm – 5pm)
Founders Hall Sunday 19th April (3pm - 5pm)
Founders Hall Sunday 26th April (3pm - 5pm)
Founders Hall Sunday 3rd May (3pm – 5pm)
Sports Training Village Sunday 10th May (3pm – 5pm)


To enter a team into the League please can you return the relevant paperwork (Team registration, Team Affiliation and Player registration) back to the County Office by Monday 2nd March 2009.

At present the cost of playing in the League is £60 (this works out at £8.50 per game, just over £1 a week per player for a team of 8), this also covers affiliation to the League.

Payment for entry must be paid before the first fixture (Sunday 29th March – cheques made payable to Somerset FA LTD) as there will be no time to collect money on any match days!
