Andre GrimauxTWO Tullawong High School sporting talents are preparing for a trip of a lifetime to the mecca of world futsal.
Kelsey Pifarre and Shelby Williams have been named in the Australian Schoolgirls’ touring team that is travelling to Brazil in April.
They will spend almost three weeks playing and training with some of the finest players in the South American nation.
``It’s just such a great opportunity,’’ said defender Kelsey, 16.
``The experience of playing overseas and in a county like Brazil will be amazing.’’
Target player Shelby, 15, will be a key component in the Australian team’s attacking battery.
Both Shelby and Kelsey have played outdoor football with Caboolture in the past, and Shelby has this year made the Sunshine Coast girl’s under-16 Rebel Sport Premier League team.
Tasia Morrison from the Caboolture Sports Soccer Club and Bribie Island player Sarah McAndrew have been selected alongside Shelby in the Rebel Sport Premier League team.
And while Kelsey has joined Peninsula Power’s Women’s Premier League squad, futsal has always taken precedence.
The girls play at the Morayfield Leisure Centre every Wednesday night Shelby in mixed competition and Kelsey in the men’s B Grade league.
One of the highlights of their Brazilian adventure will be a trip to the famous Maracana football stadium.
Kelsey and Shelby have been supported by Caboolture Sports Club, but need more financial assistance to get to Brazil.
To help, phone Dorothy Williams on 0411417617.
