DALLAS TURNS BACK THE CLOCK AND TURNS AWAY THE COMPETITION
Sidekicks celebrate “Throwback Weekend” with a pair of home wins

The Dallas Sidekicks celebrated the club’s proud past over the weekend and posted a pair of important Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) victories during the festivities. Dallas donned the organization’s familiar green jerseys, worn by the team from 1984-1992, and then downed the Baltimore Blast, 17:10, on Dec.14 before defeating the Cleveland Force, 13:4, on Dec. 15. The pair of victories improved Dallas to 5-11 on the 2002-03 MISL campaign and moved the Sidekicks to within one-half game of third-place San Diego Sockers in the Western Conference standings.

The Sockers (6-11) dropped a 14:12 overtime decision in Harrisburg (Heat) on Dec. 14 in the club’s only action of the week. The Heat, who bounced back from a 12:10 overtime loss to the Blast in Baltimore on Dec. 13.

Blast's victory over the Heat marked Bobby McAvan’s first win behind the Blast bench. The Blast stand at 5-10 on the season after splitting its two games last week. The Blast remains one and one-half games behind third-place Heat in the Eastern Conference Standings.

The Heat sits two games behind second-place Force (8-6) after they defeated the host Milwaukee Wave, 14:13, on Dec. 14 before falling to Sidekicks the next day.

The Wave fell to 11-3 with the loss to the Force, but still holds a five-game advantage in the Western Conference over the second-place Kansas City Comets (5-7). The Comets dropped a 15:13 decision, to the Philadelphia Kixx on Dec. 14.

The win moved the Kixx to 13-3 on the season and increased the club’s lead in the Eastern Conference standings to four games over second-place Force. The Kixx own a six-game cushion on the Heat and a seven and one-half game advantage against the Blast.

The next round of match-ups will take place on Dec. 21, as the Milwaukee Wave travel to meet the Philadelphia Kixx, while the Kansas City Comets greet the Dallas Sidekicks. Rounding off the MISL encounters will be the San Diego Sockers hosting the Baltimore Blast.
