U.S. Futsal team to play Swampscott exhibition Saturday

Swampscott - The Swampscott Youth Soccer Association has sponsored a "Futsal" program this winter and local folks (and players) will have a chance to meet members of the U.S. Futsal team from 7:15 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Swampscott High School.

"Futsal,” unlike indoor soccer, is played with a smaller, heavier ball, where the emphasis in on fancy footwork. Saturday, the U.S. Women's Futsal team will put on an exhibition for Swampscott Youth Soccer players.

This groundbreaking sport is played and enjoyed through the world. The exhibition game will be played after the U-10 Futsal session at 6:30 p.m. and before the U-12 and U-14 session at 8:10 p.m. (The normal U-10/U-12/U-14 sessions will be reduced from 60 minutes to 40 minutes to accommodate the exhibition game.)

There is no admission charge but one lucky attendee will be able to win a Futsal ball signed by the U.S. team in a raffle that night.
