Tozer named FIFA Futsal Instructor

March 16, 2009

MILWAUKEE (March 16, 2009) - Keith Tozer, the Wave's head coach and vice president of soccer operations, has been selected by FIFA as a Futsal Instructor. He will be able to teach courses organized by FIFA throughout the world.

Tozer has been head coach of the U.S. national futsal team since 1996, leading the side to three World Cups and two CONCACAF gold medals. The team was seventh at the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Chinese Taipei. Futsal is played on a basketball-sized court with no walls and four players plus a keeper to each side.

"I am extremely honored to have been selected as a FIFA Futsal Instructor," Tozer said. "I look forward to traveling the world and help in the teaching of futsal, which has grown dramatically in the last 10 years."

FIFA, the international governing body for soccer, offers an extensive program of courses to educate and train instructors, coaches, referees, doctors, managers and journalists. These courses focus not just on the technical aspects of the game, but also on its social values.

Founded last summer by the Milwaukee Wave, Detroit Ignition, New Jersey Ironmen and Chicago Storm, the Xtreme Soccer League is more than an indoor soccer league. The Xtreme Soccer Xperience is an energetic and innovative 12-month sports lifestyle brand built around skilled soccer professionals, entertainment and fan participation -- both live and online.
