Iran hold Brazil in futsal friendly

KUALA LUMPUR: Iran futsal team held world champions Brazil 2-2 in a friendly on Monday in Sao Croso, Brazil.

Majid Tikdarinejad and Mohamad Taheri were on target for Team Melli, who had lost the first friendly to the hosts 4-2 two days earlier.

The Asian futsal champions started their tour from Slovenia where they defeated the hosts 2-1 and were held 2-2 in another game.

Iran will take part in the Grand Prix de Futsal in Brazil in which top 16 teams of the world will be competing in June. Iran were the runners-up in this competition in 2007 after losing to Brazil 4-0 in the final.

Head of Iran Football Federation’s futsal department, Abbas Torabian told www.the-afc.com: “Iran will host a four-a-side tournamet in Isfahan in September in which Brazil and Holand have been invited. Iran’s U-23 team will complete this tournament’s line-up.”
