UEFA.comInterviú MadridSunday 1 February 2009The oldest club on the Spanish scene, having been founded in 1977, two-time UEFA Futsal Cup winners Interviú Madrid have claimed the domestic title 17 times and the main cup competition on ten separate occasions. Originally known as HORA XXV, the club then changed their name to Interviú Lloyd's and during that period took a record eight consecutive league titles between 1983/84 and 1990/91.
First tasteIn 1991/92 the club adopted the name Boomerang Interviú, and more silverware followed along with a couple of other name changes – first Airtel Boomerang and then Antena 3 Boomerang – before reverting back to Boomerang Interviú in 2002. The club's first taste of the UEFA Futsal Cup came in 2002/03 only for a forfeited match, as a result of the use of an ineligible player, costing them a place in the final.
European experienceUndeterred they bounced back in the following campaign and marched all the way to the final before defeating SL Benfica 7-5 on aggregate. They failed to hang on to the trophy in 2004/05, with a 2-2 second qualifying round draw against Action 21 Charleroi costing them dear, but were back again next time around. In the 2005/06 UEFA Futsal Cup showpiece, MFK Dinamo Moskva were beaten 9-7 after a thrilling two-legged encounter. A year later, after Interviú defeated ElPozo Murcia FS with a last-second goal to reach the final, Dinamo turned the tables with a dramatic 2-1 win. Murcia also took the Spanish title so Interviú missed out on Europe but the championship returned to the capital in 2007/08 and under their current name are back in the UEFA Futsal Cup final four and won the Spanish Cup in March.
Key playersLong-serving coach Jesús Candelas left the 'Green Machine' in the summer, to be replaced by the experienced Juan Luis Alonso, who had assisted his predecessor in 2001/02 and 2004/05 before going on to lead Azkar Lugo, Puertollano and Pinto FS. But the squad remains familiar from past European campaigns with Luis Amado in goal, Schumacher and Daniel forming the core of the team (though stalwart Marquinho is injured) along with more recent arrivals including former Murcia star Vicinius Bacaro. Interviú had nine players involved in the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup final in Rio de Janeiro; Marquinho, Gabriel, Schumacher and Betão for winners Brazil and Luis Amado, Ortiz, Daniel, Borja and Jordi Torras for Spain.

Madrid-born Juan Luis 'Juanlu' Alonso is in that select breed of successful coaches that turned to management when most sportsmen are in the early stages of their playing career.
Alonso spent a season in the reserve team at the capital club now known as Interviú Madrid before playing for Alcobendas FC between 1995 and 1998. It was at the side in the Madrid suburbs that he moved into coaching, taking the helm aged 22. Two years later he became assistant at one of Spain's biggest clubs, Carnicer Torrejón FS, before a switch back to Interviú where he was No2 to Jesús Candelas in their 2001/02 league championship success.
Following that victory, Alonso became head coach of second-tier Las Rozas FS, leading them into the top division for 2004/05 though at the start of that season he returned to assist Candelas at Interviú, aiding victories in the Spanish Cup and Intercontinental Cup. That summer Alonso took charge of Azkar Lugo FS, who had lost to Interviú in the Spanish Cup final, and he led them to victory in an unofficial European Cup Winners' Cup. In 2006/07 he coached Pertollano FS and last term he switched to Pinto FS, leading them to promotion. In the summer of 2008, Alonso again joined Interviú, this time as head coach to replace Candelas, and immediately won the Spanish Super Cup and aided a return to the UEFA Futsal Cup final four.
