CUBA SPLIT TWO-GAME SERIES AGAINST VENEZUELA

Cuba split a two-game series against visiting Venezuela as part of the futsal competition for the III Juegos Deportivos del ALBA at the Sala Polivalente Leonardo M. Grant in Las Tunas.

Venezuela won the first encounter 11:2 on 21 April with Jorge Penaranda leading the offense with four goals, while Wilfredo Figueroa and Joe Zambrano each had two goals.

Four days later, Jhoannet Martinez scored twice, while Isven Roman Garcia, Yoandy Guevara, Eduardo Morales and Yulier Olivera each added another for Cuba who rebounded for a 6:4 triumph in the second encounter.

The victory by the Leones del Caribe was the first against a South American opponent since they defeated the same Vinotinos, 4:2, on 8 November 2004 in Havana.
