Asean Football Web SiteI AM SPORT BACK ON TOP WITH WIN OVER SURATTHANIBANGKOK (25 April 2009) – I AM Sport raced back to the top of the Thai Futsal League 2009 when they blasted Suratthani 3-0 as leaders Chonburi Bluewave stumbled to their second defeat of the season.
I AM Sport who have been keeping up the pressure on Chonburi in the last few weeks made sure that they take full points on the day despite being held scoreless at the end of an exhilarating first half.
Two minutes after the restart, they duly scored the opener through Kitipol Ekjit before adding further goals through Anuwat Patan (27th minute) and Maykel Ferreira in the 32nd minute.
The win has allowed I AM Sport to retake the top spot with 19 points after eight matches – just one point ahead of Chonburi.
The Pattaya-based Chonburi side did not have the best of start against CAT Telecom when they fell to an early goal from Rogerio Moreira in the second minute before Lertchai Issarasuwipakorn added the second goal six minutes later.
CAT Telecom then piled further misery on Chonburi with their third goal of the game through Guilherme Da Silva in the 14th minute before international striker Anucha Munjarern pulled a goal back for the homesters on 16th minute.
Chonburi had little choice but to come out harder after the half and Panuwat Janta managed to steal a second goal in the 28th minute to give them a lifeline with the score at 3-2 to CAT Telecom’s advantage.
But CAT Telecom managed to compose themselves and restored their two-goal cushion with Guilherme nailing his second and his team’s fourth goal of the game.
The only semblance of a comeback was just the solitary goal Chonburi conjured up three minutes to the end off Panomkorn Saisorn as they settled for the scoreline.
In the meantime, defending champions Port Authority of Thailand picked up their third win on a trot when they beat Bangkok 5-4.
Port Authority’s goals were scored by Nopporn Setura (2nd minute), Chanyut Muangjan (9th), Natawut Mudyalan (23rd) and Tanakorn Santanaprasit (31st).
