Since past March 29th the first ever Georgian National Students futsal league is running, as reported by the local committee. Twelve teams coming from Universities and Institutes are taking part in the tournament as announced on the national television by GFA president Mr.Kakha Devdariani, who added: "I'm very happy to hold this new competition, very similar to the Georgian Futsal Championship. I believe the students league will be extremely interesting until October 30th, 2009, when we will know the name of the winner. I guess the winner squad will then take part in the next Georgian Futsal League. Also, I expect our national team head coach Mr. Avtandil Asatiani to select players also from this competition in order to improve the level of the squad".

The National Students league is organised by the Georgian Futsal Association in cooperation with the local Football Federation.
