The last match, the last goal, the last interview. Jose Carvalho da Cunha Junior was 39 and futsal was his life. But if this name is not going to sound familiar, just think at
Rabicò. Friday May 1st is a black day for brazilian and worldwide futsal, which lost a great player. Due to an heart attack while having an interview at the end of the match,
Rabicò died at the age of 39. The tragedy happened after the
Campeonato Gaúcho – Série Ouro's match between his club
Assaf (from Santa Cruz do Sul) and Carlos Barbosa played on friday night in the Santa Cruz do Sul Ginásio Municipal. This was supposed to be the last year of his impressive career, while he was already planning his future activities in the technical staff of Assaf, the club which he used to consider as his family. As told by his coach
Sérgio Pilz “O Rabicó fez hoje o que ele mais gostava: gol.” (Rabicò did today what he liked more, scoring goals).
Former Brazil (some caps and 15 goals in 1991), Barcelona in Spain and a lot of the best brazilian clubs (Vasco da Gama, Atlético/MG, Rio Verde, SER Itaqui, Perdigão, Carazinho, Reserg,)
Rabicò was a recognized pivot in our little/huge world. He will be missed.
Um abraço craque, descanse em paz
