Futsal Festival in ThornabyThornaby Pavilion is hosting a full day of futsal fun on Sunday 17th May with the main event being Middlesbrough versus Sheffield FC in The FA Futsal League North.
The Tees Valley Schools Under-14s Girls Futsal Cup will kick off the day with eight schools competing for a place in the national finals. Conyers, Branksome, Egglescliffe, Hurworth, Macmillan, Newlands, King’s Manor and Norton will battle it out, each with a Boro player as coach, hoping to reach the FA Junior Futsal Finals in Sheffield in June.
Boro’s Under-14s boys, also off to Sheffield in June, will play an exhibition game before the big kick off.
Middlesbrough host Sheffield FC, the oldest club in the world, in the FA Futsal League North and a win would cement Boro’s place in the top two, opening up a seven-point gap over third place. Boro are unbeaten in this season’s national league and are well on course for a place in the end-of-season playoffs and Damon Shaw is calling for fans for the big clash against Sheffield.
“It’s our first of two home games permitted by The FA and to really make home advantage count, a good atmosphere and lot’s of fans would really help us. The juniors would also love to play in front of a crowd. We also need to raise valuable funds for the club and with the whole day only £2.50 to enter I think it’s great value for money for a family day out.”
The girl’s tournament kicks off at 10am and England manager Peter Sturgess will be on hand to present the trophy after the final, which will kick off at 12.30pm, before casting his eyes over Boro’s future stars and their current crop. The under-14s exhibition match kicks off at 1.30pm and the grand finale of the futsal festival, Boro vs. Sheffield kicks off at 2.45pm.
Entry on the door is £2.50 for adults, £1 for kids and there will be refreshments available as well as the chance to win a signed Boro ball. Boro’s stylish pink away kit will also be on sale for £20!
So, if you’ve yet to see Boro Futsal in action, now is the chance to see what all the fuss is about at Thornaby Pavilion on Sunday 17th May.
