The FA.comFutsal 'keepers get master classSaturday, 16 May, 2009Special goalkeeping workshop held by England coach in Manchester.
Manchester Futsal Club hosted an exclusive FA Futsal Goalkeeping workshop led by England Futsal Goalkeeping Coach Tony Elliot at Didsbury Leisure Centre last Sunday.
The event was the first of its kind to be staged and brought together candidates from FA staff and FA National Futsal League clubs from across the country.
Futsal goalkeeping is a specialised discipline and varies tremendously from the traditional techniques and responsibilities of the goalkeeper found in 11-a-side football. The workshop provided a forum for discussion and practical demonstrations that are being developed with the current national Futsal team goalkeepers in Pete Sturgess’ squad.
The purpose of the workshop was to give further insight to current goalkeepers and coaches that are developing Futsal goalkeeping coaching programmes within their clubs.
The involvement of Tony Elliot insured that everyone who took part gathered an insight to his experiences and knowledge gained from studying international Futsal goalkeeping during his 18 months with the England Futsal team.
