Isle of Man FAFutsal arrivesThursday, 14 May 09The Isle of Man's first ever Futsal league is on the horizon...The IOMFA are delivering the first ever futsal league on the island due to start this June.
The game, a high tempo, more skillful version of traditional 5-a-side makes use of bigger goals, touchlines and a smaller ball with less bounce to create an exciting climate for indoor football.
Futsal originated in South America and is played widely across South and Eastern Europe. The FA and FIFA endorse the game due to is highly technical and skill developmental outcomes.
The league is set to start on Friday 26th June and run every Tuesday and Friday until 30th October 2009 at Ballakermeen High School Sports Hall. Games will be played in one hour slots between 6 - 9pm on these days. The league is for open age male teams from local businesses, clubs or social groups. Minimum age: 16 years.

There will be three 'Taster Sessions' available to attend in order for teams thinking about entering to have a go and teams entering the league to get used to the laws of the game. The taster sessions will run on hourly slots on the following dates;
Wednesday 27th June 6 - 10pm @ QE2 High School
Wednesday 3rd July 6 - 10pm @ QE2 High School
Wednesday 17th June 6 - 10pm @ QE2 High School
Taster sessions will cost £20/team which can be made payable on the evening. We strongly urge teams who are entering the league to attend one of the taster sessions in order to get used to the laws of the game.
