Malta FootballMaltese-Gozitan mix in futsal festivalThe very popular Futsal Festival for schools, held in Malta in recent weeks and which was extended to Gozo last Wednesday, again proved to be an event that was characterised by a spirit of enjoyment by all participants representing schools from both islands.
The Fun Festival, was organised and run by the MFA, the Sports Promotion Unit within the Secretariat for Youth and Sport and the Physical Education Officer from the Education Department. This event was also made possible thanks to the Gozo FA.
The matches between Maltese and Gozitan Schools, played in an atmosphere of fair play, attracted most attention at the Oratory Grounds at Victoria.
These were followed by matches between teams comprising randomly-picked players from Maltese and Gozitan schools. This added to the spectacle of fun and gave the participating students the opportunity to gain new experience when being part of a team alongside new faces.
In conclusion, the PE Education Officer, thanked all those who made the event possible, not the least the students, and underlined the importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, along with the consumption of a lot of water. He hoped that many more of these events will bolster more interest in the game and give the students the opportunity to enjoy themselves in sport.
General Soft Drinks, sponsors of the MFA in this activity, then presented a token to all participants.
