As announced to Futsalplanet.com by the local futsal Committee member
Rabie Belkire, an ambitious project is in the aims of the
Libyan FA. We're talking about the eventual debut of the
Confederation Cup, a brand new tournament that would include all national team winners from each continent. The event, if confirmed, is supposed to take place in Tripoli (Libya) since October 5th 2009, with the full denomination of
First Alfateh Futsal Confederation Cup. As obvious the national team involved are:
Libya (CAF Futsal Champs),
Brazil (Conmebol and World Champs),
Spain (UEFA champs),
Guatemala (CONCACAF holders),
Solomon Island (OFC winners) and
Iran (AFC champs). According to our informations, the Libyan Futsal Teams Department has already got in touch with all foreign federations and the process is going very well.
Also, we have to remind that the Mato Stankovic's team is going to face Iran in three friendly matches scheduled to take place in the african country since May 27th to 29th, respectively in the cities of Tripoli, Gryan, and Misurata.
