In addition to each school winning the trophy they will be presented with a full Sporting Fingal strip for their school to utilise as well as a season ticket for each winning player. All of the FAI CDOs in Fingal CoCo were strongly involved in this competition (Denis Hyland, Mick Pender, Paul Keogh, Martin Doyle and Paul O Reilly)
Sean Elebert (Boys U-16s, Skerries winning Manager) stated, “Our lads are ecstatic with the win, it has been a tough competition with some very strong opposition in both the qualifying round and the finals day. Futsal is a great outlet for these young players to hone their technical skills and hopefully progress to the next level, who knows we might see some of the pull on the Sporting Fingal jersey the sponsors of this tournament in the next few years.”
Bernie Carroll (Girls U-18s and U-16 Boys, Blakestown Manager) said, “This has been a great experience for our students, although they did not win the completions it has been very worthwhile and extremely enjoyable. This form of the game (Futsal) is really good for schools especially with the current economic problems, it can sometimes be difficult to organise 11-a-side games with pitches called off/refs not arriving and of course the cost of covering teachers, Futsal is so much easier and accessible, it has really taken off in our school and through our links with the FAI Development Officers we have had many opportunities to play against the best schools in the county and the ‘Sporting Fingal’ Futsal Cup has been a great way to finish of the season within the school..we look forward to competing again next year.”
Paul O Reilly (FAI CDO Fingal Area, Dublin 15) stated, “This has been a tremendous way to finish the Sporting Fingal Futsal Cup 2009, we had two great competitions with a very high level of futsal being played. Congratulations to the winners but also well done to all the schools who progressed here to todays finals in Corduff Sports Centre. Sporting Fingal have been tremendous in supporting the work of the FAI development officers, this support has been evident throughout this competition with numerous Sporting Fingal players turning up at the various venues to support the schools, in addition the prizes and presentation to come show the commitment of the club in supporting grassroots football within Fingal CoCo. This support from a progressive League of Ireland club is a great asset for all within the Fingal football Family”
