Cyprus FutsalAGBU ARARAT has conquered another title on Friday May 8th after an impressive win over G.C School, recording the final score 8-0.
The game was featured as a tight battle between the league runners up
G.C. School and the Cup holders
Ararat.
However Ara Petrosian’s boys decided to remind everybody that Ararat is the boss in town and gave a warning in view of next year’s championships. Ararat has dominated Cyprus Futsal in its first 10 years of story with 6 championship and 5 cup triumphs which represents 11 out of the 18 available titles. Not to mention their participation in the Uefa Futsal Cup for 6 times which it is one of the highest participation among European clubs.
Having missed the championship victory for two seasons in a row is a kind of notable news in Cyprus futsal, so that this impressive cup win over G.C. School sounds like a message that former president Atamian (see our report in the next days) and his boys are back!!!
On the other hand G.C School is now recognized as one of the new powers in Cyprus Futsal: even though they had a very successful year they feel that they could at least bring home one trophy. They also lost to the Championship final game against Omonoia 5-0 a month ago and unfortunately they couldn’t manage to celebrate in both occasions. This could be a signal of inexperience in critical games or even lack of a clear strategy. Coach Yiannos Mylonas and his players, that compose the 50% of Cyprus national team’s roster, are the only ones who know the answer and they will have to use it as a good lesson for the future.
During the first half Ararat was the dominant team on the court and managed to take the lead 2-0 with goals from
Armen Danielan and
Lefteris Pericleous. In the second part of the match Ararat decided to offer their futsal show to the 500 fans, including the Cyprus Federation President Mr.
Kostakis Koutsokoumnis.
With high efficiency, perfect positioning, great passion and amazing finishes Ararat scored 6 more goals with latvian international
Olegs Matvejevs (2), Manolis Manoli, Totladze and Bachtourian.
