Sixty girls from six schools took part in the female County competition in the sports hall of New Vic College in Plaistow.

St Angela's won the event with 13 points, while Brampton Manor claimed runners-up spot with 11.

Other schools taking part included Cumberland, Eastlea and two sides from Lister.

Eastlea School from Canning Town won the Fair Play Award and were provided with a free Umbro Equipment Pack as their prize.

Futsal is a variant of mainstream football that is mainly played indoors.

It is played between two teams of five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper, and up to seven substitutes per team.

Sharon Brownlie, girls' and women's football development officer, was thrilled with the event's success and said afterwards: "The standard was mixed but St Angela's, in particular, had some very talented young players.
