New Straits TimesMalaysia hammered by Indonesia MALAYSIA'S hopes of qualifying for the Asean Futsal Championship semi-finals suffered a major setback when they were beaten 7-2 by Indonesia in a Group A match in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.
This is Malaysia's first-ever defeat to Indonesia in this tournament.
Malaysia had both their goalkeepers -- Firdaus Razali and S. Devandran -- sent off for fouls.
"We had no choice but to rely on an on-field player to play the keeper's role," said Malaysia's team manager Hamidin Mohd Amin. Malaysia's goals were scored by Safar Mohamad and Addie Azwan Zainal.
The defeat means Malaysia must beat defending champions Thailand today, and Myanmar, to advance to the semi-finals.
Thailand started their campaign by thrashing Myanmar 16-6 yesterday
