Though South American futsal is still waiting in order to know the Conmebol Futsal Cup 2008 Winner (as soon as possible we will provide you with news on the final match fixture: Malwee and Deportivo Tachira will fight for the title)
Conmebol announced both places which will hosts the 2009 competition, respectively for the South and North Zone.
The greatest news regards the North Zone and means a basic step for futsal development in a country like
Bolivia, still counting on a strong AMF influence.
The city of
Santa Cruz will therefore offer the best of the Conmebol north zone on next October 2009, featuring clubs from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú and Venezuela. According to the general secretary of FBF (Bolivian FA)
José Pedro Zambrano (in declarations given to the local portal
Facetas Deportivas) one of the bolivian representatives will be
CRE from Santa Cruz, Dimafusa champions.
On the other hand the
South Zone will take place in the argentinean town of
Misiones, again in the first week of October. Ten clubs will be involved:
Pinocho and
Filial River Plate, respectively winners and runners up of the first ever National Championship played on past december in San Luis, will be the argentinean clubs. Also, as usual will play two clubs from Brazil (one of them will be Malwee for sure), two each from Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile. The first stage will take place in Iguazú and Puerto Esperanza as reported by
Pasion Futsal, while semifinals and final are scheduled to happen in Posadas, with live broadcasting on television as well.
