Report by our chinese collaborator
Li JingInternational Futsal Tournament China 2009Netherlands team claimed the title of the
International Futsal Tournament China 2009. Thanks to the final victory over Iran, which came through a 10mt. double penalty scored by
Jamal El Ghannouti in the final minutes of the last match (see game details
here), the triumph went to the Dutch selection. Having won two matches (vs Iran and in the debut against local hosts China) and losing only to Japan the
Vic Hermans' side closed the tournament with 6 points, one more than the Japanese amount. The Miguel Rodrigo's roster bravely drew Iran with a 4-4 score and then got a brilliant victory over the Dutch opponent, at the end of an intense fight in which the asian keeper
Jun Fujiwara offered an high standard performance. Host team
China surprisingly hold Iran (basically playing with an Under 23 team) on a 3-3 tie. In the final day Chinese team was encouraged enough from the local fans until managing to force Japan to a 0-0 tie, leaving the Iran vs Holland game the chance to determine the championship winner.
We have to remind that, at the beginning of the final match, the
Dutch Futsal Association celebrated the
Vic Hermans last appearance on the national team bench, before leaving to Malta. KNVB is expected to appoint the new coach on july 1st.
