Indian FootballViva Kerala sign PIOWednesday, 24. June 2009 Viva Kerala have signed 'Player of Indian Origin' Raman Patrick Sisupalan for the upcoming I-League season. The British born player is currently with
FC White Bear, which is a Futsal club based in England.
Speaking to IndianFootball.Com, the 28 year old Patrick said, "I wanted to play for Viva Kerala because they are in the I-League and because Kerala is where my father is from. I just love the fact that people in Kerala are crazy about football." He believes the experience of playing in USA and England will help him. "I have played in England and in USA; so, I have the experience of adapting with many different styles of football and I hope this experience will give me an advantage over other I-League players." he added. The Viva Kerala player fancies a position in central midfield and will join the camp by the first week of August.
Meanwhile, the club has also signed K.P. Anish from S.B.I, Chennai. The 21 year old had represented Tamil Nadu in the 62nd edition of the Santosh Trophy held in Jammu & Kashmir and captained the Kerala Under-21 team last year. It also seems that the club has finally sorted out the deals for foreign recruits as three players from Ghana are heading for the club. Viva are still in search for their Asian player under the 3+1 rule which has now been enforced by the AIFF.
Viva Kerala will most probably have to play their home matches at the Municipal Corporation Stadium, Kozhikode after confirmation that the Jawharlal Nehru Stadium in Cochin won't be available due to the ongoing roof work while the Maharaja's College Ground does not meet the criteria for conduction of I-League matches.
