The 2-2 Bank of Guam Crushers were looking to pull even with the 3-1 Southern Cobras. After 50 minutes of exciting play, the Cobras pulled out a last-minute 4-3 victory over the Crushers.
With the score tied at 3-all, the Cobras' Roy Abril nailed the game winner with only 50 seconds left on the clock after receiving a nicely placed pass from teammate Jodee Reyes. The Cobras then held their ground defensively as the seconds ticked off the clock and the Crushers took the loss.
The contest featured hard, aggressive play from the start. Early on, the defenses of each team played the key role, keeping the game scoreless for the first 15 minutes of play.
It wasn't until the 15th minute that the Cobras struck first. Abril found an open net and connected easily on the opportunity. The Crushers equalized the game with only 2 minutes left in the half, knotting at 1 apiece at the break.
The much-younger Cobras started the second half with renewed intensity, which paid off just 3 minutes in. Fred Alig squeezed the ball through Crushers goalkeeper Aaron Jackson's legs and to find the back of the net and take back the lead for the Cobras.
Bank of Guam' troubles deeped 6 minutes later when they allowed the Cobras' Jan Flores to zip a shot into the upper left corner. But Crushers weren't about to give. They bounced back to cut the deficit to one with 10 minutes left in the game when John Ilao scored after collecting a ricocheted ball and sending it into the goal.
Bank of Guam tied the game at 3 with about 5 minutes left. Halley Sakomoto fed a perfect pass to Eliseo Zamarran who blasted it right past Cobra goalkeeper Vince Carbullido. The game looked as if it was going to end in a draw until the Cobras struck for the final time.
