Fiji Live.comFiji FA promises cash for Fiji FUTSAL winJuly 06, 2009The Fiji Football Association has promised the national FUTSAL team cash incentives if they win the OFC championship that kicks off at the Vodafone Arena this afternoon.
Fiji FUTSAL coach Imtiaz Khan said FFA chief executive officer Bob Kumar made the promise while presenting the players’ jerseys last night.
“It really boosted the team morale. It’s great to be acknowledged by our parent body and have them believe in us and want to reward us,” Khan said.
Fiji faces Vanuatu in their opening clash this afternoon and will be led by Kamal Hassan. Hassan will be assisted by Simione Tamanisau.
“I am pretty confident about our chances of winning the title this year mainly because we have a much better team now and well prepared compared to the previous year,” Khan said.
“But winning is not important to me. My real concern is that these players get exposed to international level of competition so we can build up better to the 2011 World Cup qualifiers.”
The OFC FUTSAL championships kicks off with defending champion Solomon Islands taking on Pacific powerhouse New Caledonia in the feature match on day one of competition.
