Fiji Live.comKhan delays naming of FUTSAL captainJuly 05, 2009Fiji FUTSAL coach Imtiaz Khan has delayed the naming of the team's captain for the Oceania Football Confederation FUTSAL Championship which kicks off in Suva tomorrow evening.
Khan and the team management were expected to announce the captain today but have deferred the annoucement to tomorrow.
According to him, they will name the captain when the team is presented with its uniforms before its opening match against Vanuatu at the Vodafone Arena.
Lautoka striker and 2008 OFC FUTSAL Championship golden boot winner Kamal Hassan is hotly tipped to lead the host nation.
The side was skippered by Labsa midfielder Mira Sahib last year.
Defending champion Solomon Islands take on Pacific powerhouse New Caledonia in the feature match on day one of competition.
Fiji, New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands will play on a round robin basis.
The Fiji squad: Simione Tamanisau (Navua), Emori Ragata (Labasa), Mira Sahib (Labasa), Uraia Loki (Nadi), Aisea Codro (Ba), Shivam Nathan (Suva), Dinesh Mudaliar (Suva), Sandeep Nair (Suva), Joseph Mishra (Suva), Christopher Kumar (DAV,Ba), Kamal Hassan (Lautoka), Mohammed Shalmeen (Nadi).
