Fiji LiveSolo magic stuns New CaledoniansJuly 06, 2009The second match of the 2009 Oceania Football Confederation FUTSAL Championship between Solomon Islands and New Caledonia provided a lot of spark and entertainment with the Kurukuru's winning 8-3.
Down at halftime 2-3, the defending champions came back strongly in the second spell to score 5 goals and win the match convincingly.
Backed vocally from the stands, Solomon Islands got on the score board just three seconds after kickoff through the boots of their sensational captain Elliot Ragomo.
Jack Wetney doubled the advantage for the Kurukuru's while Henry Drudri pulled one back to keep the New Caledonians into the game.
Two further goals from Rodrique Poiwi and Ismael Tchovamili just before halftime saw the New Caledonians enjoy a 3-2 lead at the breather.
Stern pep talk by coach Dickson Kadau saw the Solomon Islanders kicking off the second spell in style.
Micah Lea'alafa got a double in the opening minutes to give his team a 4-3 lead. Both of his goals were scored through individual brilliance which awed the fans.
Moffat Sikwa'ae, James Egeta, Wetney and Ragomo added four more goals to finish the match with an impressive 8-3 margin.
Coach Kadau was happy with the win and said his message at halftime was well utlised by the players as they played the second spell with more urgency and confidence.
"We had lost focus in the later stages of the first half and give New Caledonia alot of possession which resulted in the goals but I told the boys to play with more urgency in the second half and am happy they played their game and managed to score the goals" he said.
