The AFC.comDates and draw for futsal zone qualifiersMonday, 06 July 2009KUALA LUMPUR: The AFC Futsal Championship Indonesia 2010 – Asean Zone Qualifiers, will be held from February 13-18 next year in Jakarta.
The draw for the tournament is scheduled for 22 July 2009, at 11.30am, at AFC House in Kuala Lumpur.
The eight countries taking part, by Asian ranking, are: Australia (5th), Malaysia (10th), Indonesia (11th), Vietnam (18th), Brunei (21st), Cambodia (NA), Myanmar (NA) and Philippines (NA).
The teams will be divided into two groups of four.
The draw for the West Zone qualifiers will also be held on the same day. The teams taking part are: Lebanon (8th), Iraq (14th), Kuwait (16th), Qatar (19th), Jordan (NA), Saudi Arabia (NA) and Bahrain (NA).
The draw for the East Asian zone qualifiers features seven teams: Japan (3rd), China (4th), Korea Republic (13th), Chinese Taipei (15th), Macau (17th), Hong Kong (NA) and Guam (NA).
The teams that have pre-qualified for the AFC Futsal Championship Finals Uzbekistan 2010 are Iran (1st), Thailand (2nd) and Japan (3rd) based on their rankings as the top three teams of the 2008 edition, and Uzbekistan as host. They will be joined by the top three ranked teams from each of the four zonal qualifiers to make up the 16 team finals.
All four pre-qualified teams had the option to participate in their respective zonal qualifiers, with no bearing on the qualifying rankings. Only Japan have taken up this option as the East Zone Qualifier is also being jointly held as the 1st East Asian Football Federation Futsal Championship.
