The French territory displayed a fine effort after going down to Solomon Islands 3-8 last night.

Second day's play in the Oceania Football Confederation FUTSAL Championship has commenced at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
Vanuatu and New Caledonia are currently playing with both teams locked 1-1 midway in the first spell.
Vanuatu scored first through Ben Edward and New Caledonia equalised through Ivann Pourouoro.
Fijian referee Rajinish Dave has flashed the first yellow card of the match to Vanuatu's Lui Sifas and New Caledonia with the freekick have gone up 2-1. The freekick was taken by Ismael Tchovamili.
Sifas has covered up for his mistake and leveled scores with a powerful attempt.
New Caledonia has taken the lead at the stroke of halftime through Louis Caunes.
Halftime: New Caledonia 3-2 Vanuatu.
Second spell has commenced and both teams are trying to score more goals and better their chances of progressing further in the championship.
Vanuatu's Terry Quare is shown the first red card of the tournament and Vanuatu has been temporarily reduced to four man only.
Tension has erupted on the Vanuatu bench and referee Dave has instructed the technical officials to ask Vanuatu coach to move away from the bench. The coach leaves the bench.
Ben Edwards after the restart has equalised for Vanuatu and the current score now is Vanuatu 3-3 New Caledonia.
Ismael Tchovamili has put New Caledonia up by 4-3.
Sifas who just entered the field as a change has leveled scores again. The current scores are Vanuatu 4-4 New Caledonia.
Loic Caunes has put New Caledonia into the lead with minutes remaining on the clock.
The referee has blown the final whistle and New Caledonia has taken the match out 5-4.

Oceania FootballFUTSAL 2009 FIJI – NEW CALEDONIA WIN 5-4 NAILBITER OVER VANUATU Tuesday, 07 July 09New Caledonia has kept their final ambitions alive with a 5-4 win over Vanuatu on Match Day Two of the OFC Futsal Championship.
Vanuatu opened scoring through Ben Edward after four minutes, only for New Caledonia to reply a minute later through Anderson Paulin.
New Caledonia then snatched back the lead thanks to a powerful direct freekick from Ismael Tchovamili before Lui Sifas drew Vanuatu level after 18 minutes.
But, it was the Caledonians who finished the half with momentum, Loic Caunes scoring from his team’s third direct free kick of the half with only a second left before the break.
Trailing 2-3 at halftime Vanuatu were delt a demoralising blow when Terry Quare was sent off for two minutes after his second yellow card offence.
They were then hit with another body blow when coach Marco Herrominly was sent from the stadium.
But they rallied immediately after Quare returned, with Edward drawing themlevel again, only for New Caledonia's Ismael Tchovamili to reply in kind 30 seconds later.
The cut and thrust continued in a final ten minuts that saw Luis Sifas draw his team level for the third time before Caunes stepped up two minutes from full time to bury Vanuatu's hopes with a deft side foot past the keeper.
