Fiji LiveFiji lose Mishra ahead of NC clashJuly 08, 2009Stylish Fiji FUTSAL striker Joseph Mishra has been ruled out of tonight’s clash against New Caledonia after copping an injury against the Solomon Islands last night.
The Suva marksman who fell heavily on the court from an aerial contest with Solomon Islands goalie Alick Lioka was carried off the field and will need time to recover.
Fiji manager Jainendra Sukhu said Mishra has been ruled out of the match tonight and will undergo further medical assessment to determine his availability in the playoff on Friday.
“He fell heavily and has injured his collar bone which temporarily rules him out of the tournament.”
“The team medics will have another assessment tomorrow to confirm his status but as it is we will just do away without him.”
“There are other capable players in the team who can fill in for him and I am hoping for a positive result against the New Caledonians tonight.”
“They are quite aggressive and have some good players and we will not take them lightly.”
“They lead Solomon Islands in the first half and then beat Vanuatu last night and will be no pushover.”
“We will need to play our game and score as many goals possible to be able to feature in the final playoff on Friday.”
“This is an important clash for Fiji and the players are expected to give in their very best.”
“The performance against the Solomon Islands wasn’t that bad as they are the champions of FUTSAL and losing by just two goals, after holding them in the first half just reflects the commitment put in by the boys” he added.
The Fiji- New Caledonia match kicks off at 8pm while Solomon Islands and Vanuatu will clash at 6pm.
