German and French diplomats win Diplomat-2009 futsal tournament

Baku - Lachin Sultanova – APA. The ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan organized a futsal tournament between the representatives of the embassies and other diplomatic missions accredited in Azerbaijan on the occasion of 90th anniversary of Azerbaijani diplomacy. 11 teams (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Germany-France, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, UN, UK, World Bank and Israel) participated at the Diplomat-2009 tournament, which took place on June 22-July 13, 2009 in Baku, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

Group A : MFA - Germany-France 4:4, Qatar - Ukraine 0:2, Germany-France – Qatar 14:0, Kazakhstan – Ukraine 9:0, MFA – Ukraine 5:0, Kazakhstan – Qatar 6:1, Germany-France – Ukraine 5:0, MFA – Kazakhstan 3:1. MFA and Germany-France were qualified for semifinals.

Group B: UN – Israel 0:2, Turkey – UK 9:1, UN – World Bank 5:3, UK – World Bank 3:8, Turkey – Israel 0:0, UN – UK 5:0, Russia – UK 0:0, Turkey – UN 2:1, World Bank – Israel 3:10, Russia – UN 3:10, Turkey – World Bank 3:7, UK – Israel 0:5, Russia –Turkey 0:5, Russia – Israel 5:0, Russia – World Bank 0:5. Israel and Turkey were qualified for semifinals.

Germany-France defeated Turkey 6:3 in the first semifinal and MFA defeated Israel 4:3 in the second semifinal. Germany-France won a final game with MFA 5:0 and became the tournament winner left MFA and Turkey in the second and third places. Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Vagif Sadigov presented prizes to the winners.
