The AFC.comAFC Referees Committee meetingTuesday, 14 July 2009KUALA LUMPUR: The AFC Referees Committee met here at AFC House on Monday and took several key decisions for maintaining the pace of improvement of refereeing in Asia.
The meeting was chaired by Yousef Yaqoob Al Serkal, of the United Arab Emirates.
Among the key decisions taken was to establish criteria for the winners of the Referee and Assistant Referee of the Year Awards.
It was decided to exclude candidates whose rating average is below 8.4 as well as those who have scored 8.4 or below more than twice. Consideration will also be given to grades given by Video Assessors, importance and difficulty of each match and consistency of performance.
Members also
agreed to allow AFC futsal referees to take part in exchange programmes with UEFA as long as AFC referees are able to officiate in European matches of equal importance or equivalent to what UEFA referees will be assigned to in Asia.
The committee also approved the new AFC Referees Fitness Test Log Book, which referees and assistant referees can carry with them as an official record of their fitness levels for a certain period of time.
The decisions need to be ratified at the AFC Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday.
