England bid for Swindon's Clark

Friday 17th July 2009

SWINDON’S Brad Clark is among the players hoping to win a place in the next England futsal team.

Talent from all over the country will be participating in The FA talent identification day to be held on Saturday.

Clark has already impressed as a key member of the 2Tone team that won the @Futsal league in Swindon earlier this year.

@Futsal managing director Frank Rodriguez said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for @Futsal Limited which opened its first club in Swindon in January this year.

“If we are already identifying England internationals after six months and one club, imagine the possibilities when we have 30 clubs open in the UK.

“And with the success of the youth league in partnership with North Wilts Youth League, we are looking forward to identifying more England international stars of the future.”

The game of Futsal is as close as you will get to playing traditional 11-a-side football but indoors and is the only form of indoor small sided football approved by FIFA.

The England team are progressing rapidly and have ambitions of becoming one of the top futsal teams in the world, alongside the likes of European champions Spain. The trials are taking place at Swindon’s futsal arena located at Kembrey Park this Saturday from 10am to 5pm.

Any footballers aspiring to wear an England shirt in the future are welcome to drop into the arena to watch and entry is free.

If successful, Clark will join another local lad from Wiltshire, Luke Ballinger, who is currently the England futsal captain.
