Libyan futsal (5-a-side football) squad plays Ukraine

Libyan national futsal squad, which holds the African and Arab championship titles, will play three friendly ties with its Ukrainian counterpart, which ranks seventh in the world, sports sources in Libya told PANA Friday.

Futsal is short for futbol sala - loosely translated as indoor soccer - Futsal is a five-a-side game that utilizes a special low bounce ball within the boundaries of a standard Basketball court.

The first two ties are slated for Monday and Tuesday in Muserata, 220 kms east of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, while the third one will be played Wednesday in Garyane, 80 km south of Tripoli.

The Libyan squad will also play Japan 29 and 30 July, before clashing with Russia, China and US in similar friendlies.

These ties are part of the Libyan squad's preparations for the North African championship, slated for August in Tunisia and the Continental Cup.

Libya is among the candidates willing to host the Continental Cup in October.
