The AFC.comJordan coach confident of good showingThursday, 23 July 2009AMMAN: Jordan have set their sights on making the semi-finals of their qualifying zone as a first step towards the 2010 AFC Futsal Championship in Uzbekistan.
Egyptian coach Moaffaq El-Sayyed said he was confident of qualifying after his men were grouped with Iraq and Kuwait in the three-team Group B. Group A comprises Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
“I am optimistic that we can make the crossover semi-finals before starting the real fight to qualify for Uzbekistan (the Finals),” said El-Sayyed. “I want Jordan to take top place in the West Asian qualifiers.”
“We will have a training camp in Egypt in August in which we will play three friendlies,” added the coach. “After this we will take part in the West Asian Futsal Championship.”
The West Asian Futsal Championship will be played in Jordan from August 29-September 6. The six participating teams are hosts Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain, Palestine and Syria
