Berrows JournalLewis given national nodFriday 24th July 2009A COUNTY coach has won national recognition under the Football Association’s Workforce Awards for his outstanding contribution to the sport.
Leigh and Bransford Badgers’ Pat Lewis was originally nominated for the Worcestershire award by his club and, having won that, went forward for a national accolade.
Fellow club senior coach Bosko Medakovic said: “What Pat has achieved for our club and grass-roots football locally is absolutely fantastic and him being recognised by both the county and English FA is testament to this.
“Pat’s voluntary contributions have seen him help guide our girls’ development squad in to a thriving group of keen young ladies, which in turn has seen some of our members progress on to the Kidderminster Harriers girls’ centre of excellence.
“In addition,
Pat has been a pioneer in helping promote Futsal — the Brazilian style of small-sided football — at the club and also on a wider local level.
“We are one of only a very few clubs in the county that has a futsal team. We are all proud of Pat’s achievement.”
Lewis has been invited to attend the FA Community Shield final next month when he will be presented with his plaque.
Badgers are looking for youngsters to join their under 13s Villa side for next season’s Mercian Festival Junior League.
