22/01/2003 Miguel Rodrigo refused Segovia's proposal
Beto Aranha leaves Sporting Lisbon in order to assume the guide of one of the best spanish clubs: Caja Segovia.
So the brazilian coach is not more, since monday, the coach of Sporting Lisbon. His friendly agreement with the portuguese club allow him to accept the offer from Segovia and to come back in Spain where he had a past as a player and as a coach. Paulo Fernandes (assistant coach of Sporting since 1994) has been promoted and will be the head coach of the portuguese club until the end of season 2004/2005.
Beto wasn't the only coach contacted by Caja Segovia: some days ago the most indicated as future coach of Caja was Miguel Rodrigo. The spanish coach didn't consider satisfactory the offer of Jesus Fernandez, president of the club. For this reason Rodrigo will stay in Italy and keep on coaching the A1 division club Rampin Impianti Padova. Another possible candidate was Ricardo Menezes, brazilian coach of the belgian club Action 21 Charleroi (but in Spain in the past, also as a coach of Playas De Castellon).
